Grandmaster

It is with deep regret that The Order of St. Hallvard has received notice that the XLIX Grand Master of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, H. E. D. Carlos Gereda y de Borbón, Marqués de Almazán, passed away today, August 29th, at 7:00 a.m. at his residence in Madrid, Spain.

The private funeral service will take place tomorrow, August 30, in the family pantheon.  A Memorial Service will be organized in Madrid, probably in October for all members of the Order and other friends to pay tribute to his leadership and to celebrate his life.

In accordance with the Order’s Constitution, The Coadjutor, H.E. Chev. Francisco de Borbón von Hardenberg, GCLJ, has become Interim Grand Master until the Chapter General elects a successor Grand Master.  We sincerely welcome his leadership.

May his legacy be everlasting and let us all reflect on the Order he always loved.
